Dear Eigenharpists

Dear Eigenharpists, the G+ time is coming to an end. As some of the information here might still turn our useful (and for nostalgic reasons :) ) I have created an archive of this community at Blogger. https://eigenharparchive.blogspot.com/ All postings were imported, a few comments are still missing though. Have used the Google+ Exporter (full version): https://medium.com/google-plus-exporter If somebody wants to give it another try (or have the JSON, Blogger or Wordpress exports) please contact me, I can give you author rights on the blog. The blog is just meant as an archive and thus read only. For Eigenharp related discussions we have of course the official Eigenlabs forum at https://www.eigenlabs.com/ which is the best place to be for any hardware related questions. For more cross instrument discussions we would also be glad to welcome you at https://community.polyexpression.com/ We have a dedicated Eigenharp subsection there, but also vivid exchange with players of other expressiv...

Hooray, we have a new home!

Hooray, we have a new home! (G+ is being axed by Goggle in April 2019,) A group of Eigenharp owners have created a new community forum, to replace this G+ group. PolyExpression is a place to for all musicians interested in expression in electronic music using Expressive Instruments, like the Eigenharp. Having a broader user base will allow us to benefit from experience from a wider range of musicians, whilst stil appreciating the unique character of each. Please join us, and lets keep the Eigenharp community we have built here together, and also gain some new friends who also appreciate the important of human expression in Electronic music. personal note: I (thetechnobear) will use PolyExpression for support of the community version of EigenD and also MEC. Special thanks to David Jameson for providing us a space to host our new home. https://community.polyexpression.com

Getting in here before this all goes away.

Getting in here before this all goes away. Hi All, Sorry in advance for the wall of text. As part of my PhD I’m doing some research and I would appreciate your involvement in a short study. I’m currently collecting data on the quality of a variety of Time-Scale Modification (TSM) methods that change the speed of an audio file without modifying the pitch. This research will inform future TSM methods and lead to higher quality time scaling. To be involved, you’ll need access to a computer with Windows and good quality headphones/speakers. Follow the link below to download a zip folder containing the testing software (approx. 2 GB). Contained within this folder is a Readme on with how to install the required library (approx 1GB download) and do the testing. The program will take a little while to startup after each reboot. There are also Information and Consent forms within the zip. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CcfwvrVRhlzif6r7Zr2YWiJupca3DfC2 The testing comprises of an initi...

I primarily play a guitar, but I have at least 5-6 songs on every show that I play on my Eigenharp Pico. I have a few where I switch from Pico to guitar mid song. My real challenge is where to put the pico before I grab the guitar so that I can pick it up quickly later? Is there some kind of stand that would work for it? Where do you keep your Pico on the stage when you are not playing it?

I bought a used Pico, and have been searching the google+ and eigenlabs forums regarding setup options. Does anyone know the status of raspberry pi option for pico? - Would this be a DIY option with Linux build? I have Windows 10, and it looks like the latest is here: https://github.com/TheTechnobear/EigenD/releases/tag/community-2.1.7 - Is that right? - Is there a setup guide anywhere? I see release notes here: https://github.com/TheTechnobear/EigenD/releases - From 3 years ago is this note, "This release depends on a new version (1.0.1) of the runtime package (aka EigenD support package) which has not been released for windows yet. For the time being, download the runtime-1.0.0 from the Eigenlabs website, install it and then rename it to runtime-1.0.1 (its found in Program Files (x86)\Eigenlabs" - Are these still the latest runtime and drivers for windows? http://www.eigenlabs.com/downloads/releases/state/resources/ I am most interested in good cello/horn sounds (to take a...

I have a Tau and a Pico and am considering selling the Pico. Do we still need to go through Eigenlabs to register the new owner? Thanks in advance

I just had a look at Audio Damage Quanta, a new granular MPE soft-synth. First impressions are good. Logical UI and very easy to get useful results. There is a demo version as well. https://www.audiodamage.com/collections/plugin-instruments/products/ad046-quanta https://www.audiodamage.com/collections/plugin-instruments/products/ad046-quanta

Good news to everyone.

Good news to everyone. EigenD 2.1.7 Community (64 bit) launched on macOS 10.14 Mojave and link between ableton live 10 and live pad agent succeeded. However, please do not forget to install Python 2.7.1 if you clean install OS. Because EigenD could not be launched in the latest version of Python in Mojave.

Stumbled across an interesting video about how risk is taken out of selling the "product music".

Stumbled across an interesting video about how risk is taken out of selling the "product music". It is generalizing quite a lot and some points are probably common knowledge, but I think he hits some important points why some pop music sounds so - arbitrary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVME_l4IwII

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! Can I get some feedback/advice from those using a Mac to run EigenD on what configurations you are running and if they are stable? I am using an older Macbook pro with El Capitan running EigenD 2.074. I am using this with my Tau to play the old version of Alchemy software resident in the laptop as a vst. I am worried that this laptop may crash one of these days and I am concerned about redundancies as I play the Eigenharp live. Is it possible to buy a new laptop running high Sierra with the latest experimental version of EigenD and then use this to play the new Alchemy that is part of Logic Pro X? Thank you in advance for your help and support! Michael

Goods news from Haken Audio... NEW FROM HAKEN AUDIO: The ContinuuMini The ContinuuMini shares some features with the Continuum Fingerboard but is less expenstve: (1) Temporal Accuracy - 700^Sec (NB: mechanical feel of the Mini is quite different). (2) Pressure Sensitivity - Halt effect sensors (uses only four; has lesser dynamic range). (3) Onset Fine Structure - Reports attack trajectory, not just a 7-bit "strike" value. (4) Pitch Sensitivity - Can roll fingers for super-fine pitch adjustments. (5) EaganMatrix Synthesis - Tight timbre feedback loop (ideally, customize presets for Mini) The ContinuuMini's polyphony and computation power is the same as a L2x Continuum. The ContinuuMini provides duotactic play, with a pitch reference display for each note. Narrow body allows multiple units (multiple manuals, as is done on Trautonium). Standalone preset selection and parameter modification is possible via a 4-button menu interface. Standalone operating instructions are inclu...

Since there isn't that many Eigenharpists around, I think it would be nice to meet some of you to chat over a beer or three, perhaps jam a bit, learn from each others, etc. Would there be interest in some kind of meetup sometime, say, in the autumn? I'm thinking something simple, like booking a conference room for a weekend at a hotel somewhere in Europe that is easy to get to for most of us, and then plan some Eigenharp/music related stuff to do while there. Just a thought. If there is interest I guess I can try to arrange something.

Made some progress with Fingerer on the Pico this morning, playing it via MIDI through a VL70 sound module with continuous breath pressure to modulate notes. Quick demo... http://www.lemontiger.co.uk/Audio/picojazz.mp3 (Another thing that's puzzling me is that if you look at Stage for the "Midi Out" setup, there's a tab for the two MIDI outputs, but this is missing for the Fingerer setup.) Really starting to enjoy this thing now...just discovered how to use yaw for vibrato. Didn't even realise the VL70 had it. :-) http://www.lemontiger.co.uk/Audio/picojazz.mp3

I just installed the experimental version on my mac and have been learning what I can do with this to build some templates. I'm starting to dive into Belcanto conversations and am trying to find the application called Commander. Unfortunately, I can't find it. Can someone please let me know where it is. Many thanks.
