Reaktor 6 - MPE/T3D OSC blocks :)

Reaktor 6 - MPE/T3D OSC blocks :)  Ive been enjoying R6, so thought Id add to the growing number of user blocks out there... and what would l add ? MPE and T3D support of course... they are now in the user library, both support up to 8 voices. just an initial version,  I may add more features depending how much I use them. Its been a real blast playing with these with the Soundplane and Eigenharp. T3D -  http://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/8901/ MPE -  http://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/8899/ wow... just gone back to get the links, and people have already started downloading them!? http://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/8901

Home studio setup - ergonomics...

Home studio setup - ergonomics... This is really I guess a follow up to Geert Bevin's post, which featured his setup. Does anyone have any tips on how to layout a home studio, so things are accessible and comfortable? We are starting to furnish our new house, so Im going to have to start making some decisions soon... about shelving/desks/lighting. current (vague) thoughts:  - desks around outside (60 or 90cm deep?)  - one or two higher tilting shelves (system?) on wall without windows. -  possibly centre island? or create a U shape  (rooms is approx 4x4m, will need to leave a desk for GF to use too ;)) want to leave some space to 'grow' :)  main issue: - I think is having things like push close to hand all around, e.g. for keyboard and soundplane. - don't like clutter/claustrophobic spaces  - position of iMac/keyboard/mouse ...especially as sometime I use if for coding, so has to be ergonomic. (don't really want to get another computer... bit of overkill considering...

Hello all, I am not an Eigenharp owner yet but recently found out about the marvelous instrument and would like to find out more.  I am a software engineer and musician and have been composing digital music for many years.  Having the opportunity to interactively perform the digital music via the Eigenharp is very exciting to me.  I look forward to getting to know all of you and make a final decision on the purchase of one of the Eigenharps.

I have a question...

I have a question... I am working toward a new live rig incorporating a modular synth and an Akai MPC, with everything hooked together mostly via (non-USB) MIDI. I'm interested in the possibility of playing the modular from the Eigenharp, but haven't had much luck with old-fashioned MIDI out from my M-Audio/Avid interface, though I was using Ableton which is notoriously bad at this. What's the best way to do low-as-possible latency/jitter old skool MIDI out from my Tau? Thank you in advance!

AxoCube

AxoCube I posted this privately before, but thought Eigenharpist may be interested.... (this link contains project details and updates)  Im now building the successor to EigenPI... MEC (might get a different name) MEC : Micro Expression Controller, is a small footprint eigenharp and soundplane 'driver'... with virtually no UI, that will allow limited layout mapping, and then spit out MIDI and OSC (T3D). its much more limited in scope than EigenD much more suitable for small processors. really this will be the 'fruits' of both EigenPI and EigenFreeD (yup thats not dead :))  the other news is: Ive got a beaglebone black... and I think/hope it might solve the USB issue with the Pico.  anyway, I might post the odd thing here... but mainly updates will be on the link below. (image is a dev enclosure, I'm hoping final enclosure will be approx. 20cm x 10cm x 10cm ... or close to that)  http://community.axoloti.com/t/axocube-project

Sensel Morph

Sensel Morph could this be the future? high resolution and scaleable (they have said they can make larger surfaces) scan rate might be a little slow for musical controller,  8ms full resolution or 2ms at high speed, but it doesn't say how much the resolution drops... in fairness, at 20,000 sensors (1.25mm sensor pitch), 4096 pressure levels it could loose quite a bit of resolution and still be up with other multi touch controllers. Im quite tempted to back... but have quite enough projects 'on the go' :)  http://kck.st/1ETxxOv

Hit and… miss.

Hit and… miss. Closer look reveals much more, the keywaves have a flatter new shape… seems evolution/musicians feedback? Equator is growing (I do maintain my interest in) Some other misses; - no DIN MIDI? - and more on MIDI! nothing new - OSC? - most expensive 25 …  - only 25? ok sorry... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPbj9e-Ys3s&feature=youtu.be

FXExpansion - Strobe 2 with VpC

FXExpansion - Strobe 2 with VpC So Strobe 2 has been released with 'multi dimensional control' ... no not MPE, VpC, with  PB/ CC 1 or 4 and Channel/Poly Pressure. Pretty expensive (179 euro!) but seems a pretty comprehensive synth. But I can NOT recommend it at the moment (been using demo) a) Pitchbend and Pressure don't appear to be working in MDC mode b) Menus don't work in VEP5 (ok, in LPX) other slight limitation PB range only to +/-24 semis, and pity not MPE compatible. and i found this all in 5 minutes, so appears a little buggy. Ive reported the issues, hopefully they will get them sorted out, nice to have more choice for VpC synths. anyway free demo (works for 30 mins, no save) so try it yourself

I was messing about with with my toys when this sort of emerged.

I was messing about with with my toys when this sort of emerged. I thought it'd make a nice demo of how I use the Eigenharp, so I asked my wife to film it. The main keys plays an Analog Four pad, the perc keys an AM-modulated percussive sound on the A4. Breath  controls the modular via one of the A4 CV outs. The Octatrack mangle the incoming audio in various ways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjbaKxIsoM4

locating notes...

locating notes... this might be a bit 'off the wall' what is the best LED scheme to find notes on an Eigenharp? backgound: so I use a chromatic layout on the alpha, and to help keep an eye on where i am, I either light with C major scale, or just the C tonic. (they are just for reference) But I find even though I know other scales... the lights don't help too much.. e.g. i find I cant remember which note i was using as a tonic etc. (I know i could change the light to reflect scales but I don't want to do this) What struck me is I don't have this problem with a keyboard... when I use a scale, easily remember which notes in the scale etc. (obviously its a bit easier as the keys are 'different') But I wondered, perhaps a non-regular lighting would be better? perhaps less LED (tonics only help, as too many LEDs adds confusion) ... perhaps using orange as well? my thoughts is perhaps just a regular pattern would help? e.g. diagonals or a snake patten, which just ...

Not sure whether I'm mis-remembering how it worked, but under the 2.1.1 community release posted by Mark Harris, I'm going to a VST plugin and trying to configure for per-note expression.  When I change 'global' to 'per note' under Control Scope and click OK, it fills in the box on the routing matrix, but also the 15 below it.  This means I have each channel mapped to a different parameter on the VST.  I've tried 2.1.1 experimental that Geert Bevin  posted a few weeks ago and it does the same on that.  Am I dreaming or did it not used to do this in previous versions?  Is this a bug?

I don't suppose there's any way to make the "Arm Recording" key visually indicate that it is armed, such as by turning its LED green or blinking? I'm recording a lot of blank loops, and sometimes failing to record at all, because I can't tell when I've hit the arm button firmly enough. Admittedly, I've only had my Tau for all of two hours...

A Tau of my own has finally come, after sitting in the "when I can afford it" wishlist for years.
