For those of you playing with multi expression using u-he Bazille, Groove 3 have just released a video training course for it.  If you go here then you can get a 30 day free trial courtesy of Propellorheads - the code expires tonight though, so be quick! https://www.propellerheads.se/groove3offer/?utm_source=newsletter140717&utm_medium=email&utm_content=newsletter140717&utm_campaign=newsletter140717

#Eigenchallenge2014 July part 2.

#Eigenchallenge2014 July part 2.  I was on a roll and just kept going with pieces.  We shall see what the next month brings as I start back at uni. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XJfjGMsfKc

I'm in the process of setting up another arranger or 6, not sure exactly how many I'll end up with but am starting with 1.  When connecting the player agent to a rig, what does the "Channel" describe.  I see that a lot of them have channel 1 and 12 for the main keygroup and the precussion keygroup, but then channels 13 and 14 are used when connecting the players to AU4 and sampler4.  Thoughts?

July #Eigenchallenge2014 . I have also uploaded another video which is a cover, but I'll link that later.

July Eigenchallenge incoming.  As soon as my computer can deal with the video that is.  Finally had a chance to have a deeper dive into the Alpha and I'm so glad that I have now.  Played with arrangers and workbench today.

Community help - testing

Community help  - testing as per other thread, Ive added a new mode for midi converter/audio unit, which is working but Id like to get some regression testing done. this means just running the newer build (on mac osx only) i have, and seeing if the following is working without issues: (a) fixed channel - audio unit (b) fixed channel - midi converter/midi output (c) poly mode - audio unit (d) poly mode - midi converter/midi output testing the above just involves 'upgrading', and you can always downgrade... no setup changes, so anyone can do. then report which test case you have used. if you want to get more involved you can also help test: (note: the above has priority) (e) channel mode - audio unit (f) channel mode - midi converter/midi output details are in the read me, but of course you can alway ping me here. build can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4rpwsl8xm6eo73h/AADpZb4YlCJdxMu9wQ--XHc_a/EigenD (its all agent changes, so no necessity to test separately on windo...

EigenD performance - headphones

EigenD performance - headphones as you may tell from some of my threads (VEP & multi channel au), I'm taking a look at performance of EigenD - and just found something 'surprising'. Headphone output (alpha) theres been talk about using it with 48khz because it sounds better... bah humbug. the issue is using 44.1khz kills performance! the headphone output is 48khz, and resampling down to 44khz takes twice the cpu than pianoteq is using on the single fast thread! (96k requires a decimation, but I've not tested the overhead of that process - code looks fairly light though, so probably ok) basically if you have headphones enabled, make sure you run at the 48khz. (pain for me, as I've some other software that doesnt like 48k SR!)

channel mode - for midi converter/audio unit.

channel mode - for midi converter/audio unit. Doing some final testing on an improvement for converter and au agent - for a mode that I'm trying out as 'proof of concept' its an additional midi mode called channel (we have fixed, and poly) the goal is to support multi instrument/part vst (Kontakt etc):  when you select the same audio unit from different keygroups (splits), it will target a different midi channel. In practice this means to use a multi instrument vst, you simply connect to the same rig with different keygroups. how does it select which midi channel? well it uses the channel id on the incoming wire, then uses the min/max on the agent to determine the midi channel used. So, if min/max channel is 1/16, and the incoming channel is 17 it will go to channel 1. (modulo based on max-min + min) this means that the only 'requirement' is that keygroups/channels are consecutive. i agree, using channel is a bit 'odd' at first, but in practice it actually w...

Vienna Ensemble Pro - thoughts?

Vienna Ensemble Pro - thoughts? on the same machine as EigenD, does it introduce perceptible latency? Im seriously considering having an EigenD setup, which proxies to VEP. the reasons are simple: - easier configuration, vep is great for having multiple setups etc - performance - multi core support performance, EigenD has a single fast thread that all AU use*, this is going to cause issues when running multiple audio units either in different rigs/splits but also when using audio units for effects. it would be nice to be spreading load across cores. personally, ive already found running audio units in daw, has worked well... which is similar to vep concept. another alternative would be to host vsts in max, using poly... this opens up not only midi but also interfacing via osc. * some audio units support multithread/core, but its far from 'the norm'

I'm playing with the new MIDI processor agent in version 2.1 and having an odd issue.

I'm playing with the new MIDI processor agent in version 2.1 and having an odd issue.  I want a talker that turns the midi processor on/off.  If I use the Belcanto 'midi processor 1 closed to true set' then it correctly sets the 'closed' flag on the agent to ticked.  However, if I use 'midi processor 1 closed to false set' it seems to have no effect.  Running the statement in EigenCommander returns 'ok' but shows an underline where the false would be in the statement.  Any ideas whether this is something that I'm doing wrong or a bug in the agent?

Collecting sounds for a Bazille Eigenharp preset library

Collecting sounds for a Bazille Eigenharp preset library As Mark Harris already wrote in a previous posting: u-he Bazille supports the multi-midi-channel mode since last week and thus elevated itself into the small league of perfect Eigenharp plugins: This allows per key expressions in EigenD, including not only aftertouch and velocity (which is usually possible because keyboards support this) but also poly-pitchbend, poly-modulation, poly-expression etc.! (A download link to a beta version that supports said multi-midi-channel mode can be found here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=414823 ) Had a look at the presets from the last preset contests. Many nice contributions! For most you feel that they were made from a keyboard perspective though - many mainly velocity controlled short "pluck and release a string" sustain phase sounds. Or "press a key and hear it evolve automatically" things - not so many that allow to shape a note while it soun...
Does the basestation pro fit in a 19" rack? Or, what are the dimensions of it?

EigenD 2.1

EigenD 2.1 NEW STUFF Would be nice to have some info on: Clip Manager Conductor Labeler Panner Midi Processor Awesome would be updates to the Eigenlabs Wiki - The EigenD Reference

EigenD 2.1

EigenD 2.1 Have you tried it? What has been your experience? Im surprised there has been little talk of 2.1 since its experimental release, is this just because its working? or no-one has bothered to install? To take it from 'experimental' to stable, needs feedback about issues, or some statement about its stability e.g. yes, Ive been using for weeks with no issues. twos specific question: a) are you getting any audio glitches, particularly around talkers b) have you tried on Mac OS 10.8 (actually anything other than 10.9) (we have changed compiling options, which may affect a and b)

So, I just had a setup loading and I accidentally scrolled on the progress bar and it scrolled right as I scrolled up and left and I scrolled down.  Didn't affect the loading, but was a bit odd.  Anyone else have this? Trying out 2.1.0 tonight.

Midi device agent - preview copies

Midi device agent - preview copies Yesterday I posted a video featuring my new midi device agent. as i mentioned its not ready for general release, due to: -  its still changing/improving and this would break setups using older versions - its takes a bit of 'explanation' on how to use, so probably involves more support than id like (I plan to simplify things) However, Im keen to keep pushing EigenD, to get videos showing how EigenD can be useful to non-eigenharpist, or eigenharpist in conjunction with other hardware/software. SO, if you have an interesting idea/project that could show this using the midi device agent and you are willing to post a video (doesnt have to be as long as mine!) then I will be willing to release a 'preview copy' to you (no source code either) and help you get it working. thoughts I have... (but I'm sure you have more creative ideas!) - demonstrate with more musical prowess than me (easy!), something I've already shown or a variation  (...

new agent - midi device

new agent  - midi device checkout the video -  http://youtu.be/1VdkDzZaxvw highlights:  - supports multi channel midi  - all signals, key, pressure, roll, yaw, strip 1+2, breath, pedal 1-4  - 14 bit midi support  - notes over CC (for fun)  its alot of fun as you can see in the video :)  its all working, but I'm still polishing and finalising a few things, its pretty flexible so i need to tidy things up so others can make sense of it.  #Eigenharp    #Midi    #AlternativeControllers   #EigenD   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VdkDzZaxvw
