I need some help with the midi converter windows.

I need some help with the midi converter windows. When I assign the strip or a key to any CC the most infuriating thing happens and I can't seem to stop it. The instant my finger leaves the key, it reverts to a default value. So imagine that you wanted to map the strip to your volume control, no matter what options you try, the second your finger leaves the strip, the volume resets to 0. This is the same with the buttons. I am trying to set up a few buttons to work as CC for controlling some parameters in my VST, and it is a nightmare. I get the CC messages as long as I hold the buttons, and when I release them, they send everything back to 0, as if they were momentary toggles. The option to return to origin in the matrix editor appears to do nothing, and in my software it doesn't matter if I set anything to relative or absolute mode in the VST. Doesn't matter. How can I stop this? If I set a volume, I do NOT want it to go to 0 when my finger leaves a key. Very f...

mec-max , a new option for using MEC

Image
mec-max , a new option for using MEC so this completes the five options Im planning on (for now) mec-app - light-weight standalone app for mac, linux, arm (rPI,BBB) mec-vst - a VST supporting MEC and VST hosting mec-max - a max 7 external mec-bela - embed mec in your bela projects. mec-api - C++ api, you can include in your own applications. all are working with both soundplane and eigenharps. from here I'm going to be adding further controller support , and general improvements to the MEC project. update: today, Ive added midi mpe and osc (t3d) support to mec-api (and so all 'dependent' app) p.s mec-api, mec-app,mec-vst, mec-app are now universal binaries (so 32 and 64 bit support)

What do we have here...?

What do we have here...? clues: - mec is getting bigger and better ;) - i could have used any DAW, but chose ableton for a good reason - the midi output being checked, is a red herring - but useful for other daws p.s. sorry I accidentally deleted the original post, whilst trying to update the image.

NAMM 2017

NAMM 2017 MPE - I could not find any mention or “growth” Hilights The trend of “getting-away-from-the-computer-screen” Electron - Digitakt (specs need more inspection) AKAI MPC X - still a thing? DSI REV2 - monster synth, low price and then… Paradigm - revolution or evolution? would much see other incarnations besides a mono synth… Kickstarter http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2017/01/22/namm-2017-fabulous-silicon-paradigm-synth/ Relic-6 Shear Electronics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiV7lzYuM8I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiV7lzYuM8I

NAMM 2017: Expressive E Touché

NAMM 2017: Expressive E Touché quite like the way that are interfacing with software (vst/au) seems nicely integrated, looks very sensitive, and this demo is better than last years at showing why it might be useful... 399 euros - thoughts? nice for mono synth lines, where you only need one hand playing, and the other can be on the touche. (good for modular with cv) I think its something id quite like if the tech was embedded in a keyboard... Roland/Korg/Moog should license the tech :) EDIT: there website also contains more details, the design page is interesting... https://www.expressivee.com/touche/design Im intrigued by the 'feedback' cylinder, active feedback on electronic controllers is pretty rare/unique , no? and could potentially add an interesting dimension. I think Ferdinand mentioned once, mounting a speaker too things like soundplane/linnstrument to give this kind of dimension... something Ive not yet got around to doing, but I think a great idea. https://youtu.be/u...

January... oldest Pico is now 7 years; funny coincidences, got them all around January dates. To me, they always feel "fresh" as day one. Today I use the black one in the show "IMAGINI" but it's the Haken Continuum that is sort of the star. Double-Pico with the two silver but they go along nicely complementing other setups. (One side by side with the Continuum, have to think about the other near the LinnnStrument)... ideas.

Raspberry PI...

Raspberry PI... before Christmas I released MEC, and explained that its primary target is microcomputers like BeagleBoneBlack / RaspberryPI. I didn't do a good job of explaining why... now fortunately Tracktion are joining in the fun, and at NAMM explained why, better then I can :) Its going to be a fun yeah for Pi/BBB/Bela this year. p.s. MEC has had quite a few updates, getting more useable by the day :) https://youtu.be/V2MTUpji8Uw https://youtu.be/V2MTUpji8Uw

Hello.

Hello. I got me a new Pico and spent some time this past week trying to get it work on Linux with invaluable help from TheTechnobear. Now I would like to see how different the experience is on Windows to know what I am missing. I got myself a windows 10 operating system to which I am a complete newbie since I haven't used Windows for many years. I went through the installation procedure (runtime, then drivers, then eigend 2.0.74, then finally support, which seems to have found the resources). I can fire up eiged. I have the Pico connected. Sound works otherwise. But I am not getting any thing to tell me the Pico works. I'd really like to get it running, and I am slow at windows, so any detailed help would be great. Thanks.

I have a general question for the Tau and Alpha users in the group.

I have a general question for the Tau and Alpha users in the group. Do you use the standard key mapping in your keygroups, or do you have another preferred mapping? I ask because I find playing some chords with my left hand quite awkward. I have to use one finger often to play two keys, which can be very tricky if you have dynamics mapped to the Y axis of keys. Right hand is no problem because of the orientation of notes, and chords all line up neatly. So out of curiosity, what style of keymapping do you prefer?

Hello, I am trying to run the Pico on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS using EigenD community-2.1.7, and I don't think I am very far away from getting it to work: 1. Download two files (x86_64 DEB package and start shell script) from Github, and feel grateful to TheTechnobear. In Terminal: $ wget https://github.com/TheTechnobear/EigenD/releases/download/community-2.1.7/EigenD-gpl-2.1.7-community-x86_64.deb $ wget https://github.com/TheTechnobear/EigenD/releases/download/community-2.1.7/linux_eigend.sh.txt 2. Install required packages, the EigenD package, and copy start shell script to location $ sudo apt-get install -y build-essential libiw-dev libfreetype6-dev libx11-dev libxext-dev libxcursor-dev libasound2-dev libxinerama-dev mesa-common-dev $ sudo dpkg -i EigenD-gpl-2.1.7-community-x86_64.deb $ sudo cp linux-eigend.sh.txt /usr/local/pi/release-2.1.7-community/linux-eigend.sh 3. Run EigenD $ sudo ./usr/local/pi/release-2.1.7-community/linux_eigend.sh Plugin scan begins (and crashes) during the ...

Announcing the SendMIDI tool

Announcing the SendMIDI tool After years of muddling around when having to send NRPNs, CC messages, specific Note On/Off messages, and other MIDI messages to MIDI devices ... I decided it was time to write a little tool that makes sending MIDI messages from the command line very easy. So after a couple of hours of work today, here's SendMIDI, hope you'll find it useful too! https://github.com/gbevin/SendMIDI

Bitwig Studio 2 - announced (end feb release)

Bitwig Studio 2 - announced (end feb release) Ive been using BWS 1 a bit, and its never quite felt 'there' yet... despite it having support for MPE... the VST3/per note expression is a nice feature. its a pity the full modular experience is still not there, instead we get a bunch of new 'modulators' I've applied for a beta license, so will get a better idea of whats new if/when it arrives. (Id guess they'll release the beta after NAMM, and the associated 'press frenzy') see https://www.bitwig.com/en/bitwig-studio/bitwig-studio-2 https://www.bitwig.com/en/bitwig-studio/bitwig-studio-2

I would like to buy a backup Eigenharp Alpha.

I would like to buy a backup Eigenharp Alpha. Wondering if anyone is interested in selling one. It will need to be in immaculate condition. Thanks, D

Just listened to the demos of a new physical modelling+sample based hybrid approach for violin simulation. Absurdly realistic. Wondering how well this would work with Eigenharp&Co when played in realtime... http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/demos_violin.php http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/demos_violin.php
