Any tips on making videos of performance?

Any tips on making videos of performance? not really Eigenharp specific, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips… I describe my setup/issues on my blog here:  http://wp.me/36IDJ … or does anyone know of a good forum/community which might cover such things? Thanks Mark

Gnossienne 1- apologies to Satie... http://youtu.be/EZ6LHpz910A I'd given myself a target to get something finished by the end of the year, so here it is. Far from perfect... as soon as I turn on the camera I start making lots of mistakes. but a start, hopefully more to come. (oh and next time the camera will improve too... didn't cross my mind vertical would not work too well on you tube ;o)) http://youtu.be/EZ6LHpz910A

After spending about 2-3 months away from the Eigenharp (I've been spending my free time on the latest Coursera Scala course, but the assignments are all done now) I finally picked it up again yesterday. It felt good to be playing with it again. I'd forgotten lots of basics, but remembered more than I expected of the tune I was last learning. The path to musicality is far too long, but the journey continues to have its moments of satisfaction.

Midi output -slightly confused/surprised.

Midi output -slightly confused/surprised. this is kind of a seeking of understanding... as all works nicely! In eigenD, ive selected a midi output of Pro 14 Midi (the output midi device of my AI, which is connected to my synth). This correctly means I can play my synth directly. What surprised me, is that if I launch Kontakt, and select Eigenlabs 1,  then I can also play it - this was the (pleasant) surprise, Id previously assumed Id have to Eigenlabs 1 as an output for the midi output port. So... Im trying to understand why this works.... Im guessing... in Midi output port in EigenD you are selecting a Target device, so Mac OSX routes all messages to that Midi Device, but Midi packets always have a Source of EigenLabs. Where as in Kontakt, the Midi selection, is a filter based on Midi Source. Is this correct?

Hello, I come from Switzerland (Valais).

Hello, I come from Switzerland (Valais). As a musician (guitar and keyboards), the EingenHarp is an instrument that intrigues me and before acquiring one, I want to understand a little more of it.

I remember some people were looking for a portable Eigenharp speaker system and I just stumbled into iLoud from IK Multimedia. I haven't heard it myself but all the reviews seem to be very good. Thought this could be useful to look into for those that are interested. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/guitar_effects/ik_multimedia/iloud

Two quick questions, please:

Two quick questions, please: When I can grab a few minutes, I've been trying to get a better handle on several of the tools many of you are using.  I understand how to use Creator with .conf files to (re)create setups.  Very cool--please keep on making these up.  I was under the impression that one used Creator.sh the same way with template files ( .bc) to add additional functionality to existing setups.  But clearly I am not getting syntax right.  I open terminal, drag in Creator.sh, type Alpha space, then drag in the *.bc template file, and hit enter.  I don't get an error message, but I also don't get any results.  (Yes, I have WB open.  And whatever I am doing wrong isn't affecting using Creator with *.conf files--those generally play out alright...) I'm sure whatever I'm missing is obvious.  (Maybe Mark Harris you could add sentence or two to your very useful introductory remarks on your Git Hub page to clarify how to invoke *.bc templates, for those of us ...

Cyber Monday strikes.

Cyber Monday strikes. I've been using a Zoom H4n for a couple of years as a general purpose field recorder. It is quite good and very convenient but I wanted to do more video and it has no real advantages in that setting. Finally, while adequate, it does not have particularly impressive sound quality. This is my answer. It has a couple of features I particularly like such as a slate tone and dual simultaneous recording at different levels. The ability to attach it to the camera is a nice touch as well. It will be interesting to see if BWF format is of any advantage. This, mounted to my 1Dx, should be as good a solution as I'm going to afford although if this gets to be a big part of what I do, a Blackmagic is not out of the question and uses my existing lenses. Aside from video projects it should be a step up in general field recording as well.  http://tascam.com/product/dr-60d/
If I was to get 1 AAS synth, which would you suggest? AAS has good discounts for the rest of today.

Came upon an interesting text about learning motoric skills.

Came upon an interesting text about learning motoric skills.  It's a review of the research done in the area with some emphasis given to musical technique. Being about 72 pages, it's reasonably short and provides a nice compilation of facts, learning techniques and scientific reasoning.  http://mechnerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Learning-and-Practicing-Skilled-Performance.pdf
