Have bin wondering for a long time now...

Have bin wondering for a long time now...  - How could we improve the time employed (wasted) loading/choosing the favorite or most used setups for our Eigenharp's. Even improving the "open at login" scenario. (or my lucky situation of having 2 Pico's and an Alpha, all connected at the same time, witch setup to load accordingly) Load, restart, reload, change from Alpha to Pico, to Double Pico, load default, load user.... arrrrrr My approach: After EigenD launch we can have only one "Default Setup" checked, this is a nice feature, if you only use say, the - Pico 1 Standard Setup. I decided to create a - user 000 ~ Start Beginning - setup that merely contains a talker that will be used to launch, from the Harp's a selection of our favorite or most used setups!!! now this is neat !! and simple and much faster!! then mousing, scrolling, swiping and double clicking. Just one touch on the Eigen key, with the possibility of the three colours (ex. green-user setu...

Effects within rigs

Effects within rigs Ive been playing with samples recently, and wanted to add some effects onto them. In particular I wanted to add distortion controlled by the breath pipe. So, when into WB, added the plugin to effect agent in the sampler rig, and then in the configure added breath to the wet/dry mix i want. so far so good :) but then i noticed, it would only go 0-1%, not 0-100%  (I thought it was suppose to scale, automatically but never mind... so I added a ranger min 0, max 100... but still same problem?) I guess i missing something pretty obvious... but i tried messing with scale, low, high in the configure dialog, but zippo... what am i missing :)

A BELCANTO COOKBOOK

A BELCANTO COOKBOOK Appeal for comments and contributions. After repeated and unanimous protests about burying this initiative in existing threads I'm opening a new discussion. Please don't post replies on the old threads. See a mock-up of the proposal on: http://www.maxclark.me.uk/undeadtree/13742651/

Ok, Ian Clark and or Mark Harris  I got an email with a link to your start at a draft cookbook and can not find the post here any more... strange.  At any rate, this looks like a good start. Unless you are going to make it into an iTunes ebook yourself (or I can publish it for you complete with an ISBN number gratis) then it might make a great appendix to my own Eigenharp book which really needs an update now version 2 is in production. It would be updated already but seemed wiser to wait until the foundation gets established and cover that at the same time with one revision. cheers, m

Pico Mix 06

Pico Mix 06  Just when you thought you'd caught up with the latest pico mix, bang... theres another one! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27614328/donotmove/PicoMix06.zip Ok, this is a new version which supports users scripts, in orange mode... Basically in orange mode: 2/1 to select users scripts, 2/2 for demo scripts these are called 0x user.txt, 0x pico mix.txt respectively  (hence why ive updated to new version, as incompatible with PM5) Old scripts are in pico mix, unchanged, user scripts are all blank. Tech note: uses variables to do the switching, Ive provided the 'program script' which loads up 2/1 2/2, this enables you to even more 'sets' of setups. just copy update this script, and add a new key to amber talker. if you do this, let me know and I will add a couple of 'spare keys' there, as otherwise i will overwrite with new setups. changes: 00 - first release 01 - updated/rationalised scripts, added 03 example, improved parts feedback instructions: 3/1 - ch...

Pico Mix 5

Pico Mix 5 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27614328/donotmove/PicoMix05.zip As I finally found the issue with the fingerer (conflicts with stringer), I can release PM5 which adds the fingerer mode. fingerer is now enabled for AU2, Cello, Clarinet & Midi. new bow mode, to allow cello bow to be played with 1/9 or 2/9 notes: - Ive removed pico mix 1-4, as this has all the functionality, and to reduce file size, if someone needs previous version ping me. Instructions for use ============== 3/1 - changes mode ... green/orange/red/blank 3/2 - toggles menu/playing 3/3 , 3/4 instrument selection menu modes 3/4 toggle metronome green mode = play mode & keyboard selection 1/1-9 = parts 2/1 no split 2/2 split 2/3 fingerer (au,cello, clarinet, midi)   2/4 - bow mode, 1/9 - is bow position, 2/9 - is bow velocity 2/5 - 1/9 2/9 up/down part 2/6 - - 1/9 2/9 up/down octave no split 2/7 - 1/9 2/9 up/down octave split 1 2/8 - 1/9 2/9 up/down octave split 2  amber/orange mode = session mode, 1-8 setup scri...

Channels

Channels Am i correct in saying that channels are not specfic to rigs, and can be used anywhere, on any agent? e.g. if i have a stringer in the main rig, and i add many inputs each with a channel, will it i) bundle the inputs by channel, and treat independently ii) 'stamp' that channel on all outputs. the later implication, is that although i have only one output, i can feed this into a rig, with an unset channel, as it already has the channel on the data. ie you only need to add channel once, (assuming youmdnt want to override it)... and i could filter by channel if i needed for some reason to separate again correct? Edit: see last post, Ive worked it out, and post provides details with a few examples.

Hi all

Hi all, I'm new here. I just took delivery of a Tau a few days ago and am currently still in the middle of the 'OMG this thing is awesome' honeymoon period. Apparently I'm starting to sound more like me, so that's not bad after a few days. Anyway, my background was originally keyboards (originally originally Hammond organ, then various synths in the 70s courtesy my father, I wasn't very old at the time). Then bass, then chapman stick, then percussion, and now Eigenharp. By profession I'm an engineer, occasionally a sound engineer, live and in the studio on and off over the years, but currently I'm actually doing software and electronics for spacecraft at NASA Ames. Music always remains an obsession, however. I'm currently building a rig for my Eigenharp, which will be in a 4U portable rack containing an external hard drive, USB hub, audio interface, DMX interface and a little 1U submixer. The idea is to be able to plug in either to my studio rig (bas...

It turns out that my blues vocal / songwriting workshop in the summer wants people to bring along an instrument.

It turns out that my blues vocal / songwriting workshop in the summer wants people to bring along an instrument. They actually specify guitar or digital piano but I was thinking of taking the alpha. The instructor seems to be primarily a guitar player and I'm guessing that some time will be spent on blues scales for guitar and kbd. The easiest thing might be for me to just take my Dobro (acoustic and I already know both rhythm and blues licks on it) but the Alpha might be more fun. So the question is: 'What would be a good setup for a blues singer / songwriter that would support improvisation?' I doubt that using the recorder would be convenient in such an ad hoc setting (any thought on this?) so it might be better to just have a full set of instruments in a single setup I was thinking OT steel strings strumming in one kbd for rhythm and with the percussive guitar sounds on the lower keys (not strummer, just OT's strumming engine). I guess I'd use chromatic. Then in...
How do I setup a custom light pattern on my Tau without Workbench, or is it only possible with Workbench?

Am I the last person to notice that it's possible to have a ready-connected setup in the Eigenharp bag, so that all you have to do when you pitch up is flip open the bag, attach your Tau or Alpha and fire it the laptop?

Cello - any tips?

Cello - any tips? Ive been recently playing with trying to get a good sound out of this. Ive given up on the strip for bowing, as (on the pico) its then becomes very difficult to get access to enough keys to play notes. (e.g. assuming you both with the right hand, your left cannot get to the bottom) I suppose I could not use the thumbhooks and try to hold and both with the right hand... but that seems tricky, also the I cant get a very continuous tone with the strip. So, Ive tried with the breath pipe, and this works, but its a bit 'flat', does'nt really sound like a stringed instrument. im guessing this is because the breathing is not the same as you would 'bow' Any thoughts/suggestions on how to bow/blow :)  ... to get a more realistic feel?

Pico Mix 4 (Experimental)

Pico Mix 4 (Experimental) (redundant see:  https://plus.google.com/110586757591577940744/posts/H6HuYDvUepo ) Ok, so Ive done a bit of a large change to Pico Mix...  Previously Ive tried to limit changes away from the factory setup, to make it simple but this time I wanted to try something a bit more radical. My aim this time, is to have a setup this is more aimed at the way I work, in terms of practising and playing ... and to have presets available. This was discussed here by both António Machado  & Ferdinand Strixner  I also wanted to avoid the hold down 3/2 and press something else mode, and also then having to exit by selecting the instrument. The way Ive done this is to introduce a modal setup. 3/1 - changes mode ... green/orange/red/blank 3/2 - toggles menu/playing playing ===== 3/1 - changes mode ... green/orange/red/blank 3/2 - toggles menu/playing to menu (see below) 3/3 , 3/4 instrument selection menu mode ======== 3/1 - changes mode ... green/orange/red/blank 3/2 - toggl...
