Hi everyone

Hi everyone, am currently in a "rediscover the beauty of EigenD phase :) I apparently also rediscover parts of it's complexity ;) Has anyone tried to set up EigenD for a generic MPE MIDI controller? Would like to use this e.g. with a Morph, Linnstrument and Seaboard. These all have in common that they (are configured to) send out note on/off, pitch bend, channel aftertouch and CC 74 via voice per channel (MPE style). Tried to setup something "simple but nice", feeding the output of a "MIDI input" agent into a "MIDI device" agent, sending that to a scaler, through a sawtooth oscillator, a filter, a gain, summer and into an audio device and throwing some rangers into the mix. The idea is to just control volume of the oscillator and filter cutoff with pressure and of course frequency with the frequency coming out of the scaler. Haven't gotten any sound out of this yet. Can the "MIDI device" be used as is? Or is this just meant as a temp...

Hi Everyone, still working on my new set up and having a lot of success thanks to all the help on this forum. Wondering if it is possible to use the breath pipe to add sustain? I am using one VST which I change between sounds on the VST . It would be great to add sustain over all the VST sounds if possible.

I am really new at using workbench and need some help with a simple set up.

I am really new at using workbench and need some help with a simple set up. I am controlling one VST and would like to apply the pentatonic scale to the VST. I installed the scale manager and scrolled to pentatonic major but it does not work . I have tried to enter the following in the action as well keygroup 1 hey scale to pentatonic major scale 1 set Thank you in advance!

Anyone know if I can set channel on a wire from belcanto?

Anyone know if I can set channel on a wire from belcanto? I prefer typing up my setups in belcanto to using workbench, but I don’t know how to do that. Also, can I set midi device in a midi output agent from belcanto? I’d like to toggle between two devices with a talker.

I've been using the tau basic midi setup a lot on my pi because it's so lightweight and loads fast. I decided to add tonic lights as a visual aid, and for the life of me can't seem to figure out the belcanto, or how to do it in workbench. Its a little different than other setups so examples I find online aren't quite working for me. Just wondering if anyone has done this with that setup and how they did it.

MEC - surface mapping, thoughts?

MEC - surface mapping, thoughts? the technical aspects of MEC are now working. so I'm now turning my attention to surface mapping, aka splits , musical scales etc. I thought Id ask here for any ideas you may have... here are the basics of what Im planning, so far - multiple devices - configurable scales (allowing microtonal) - splits and zone switching/layering (note: the terminology may change, e.g. surface, perhaps will be 'zone'... and I dont like row/column, as its a bit confusing) the way I current envisage it is: device , something like a eigenharp/soundplane/osc/mpe, this exposes a number of 'surfaces' (e.g. keys as one, strip 1, strip 2 , breath as others), then mapped into other surfaces, then on to a musical scale (optionally) something like : eigenharp 1 | |- surface 1 | - surface 10 - > scaler 1 | | - surface 11 - > scaler 2 | |- surface 2 - --- -- --- -- --- ---- --- -- ...

I recently built EigenD for raspberry pi, and it works great for my setups.

I recently built EigenD for raspberry pi, and it works great for my setups. (I don't use the convolution engine - which it doesn't have the power for), but my dream of using the Tau headless are still out of reach. EigenD will not launch without X running, so a headless setup where I just plug in the Pi and go doesn't work. I still need keyboard and mouse. So I got to thinking, before I try building something myself to fake it out, that I should check to see if someone else has done this already. Mark Harris for example. More or less I'm wondering about running the core of EigenD as a daemon / service, and if its possible to have a CLI interface to it. It would be wonderful if I could also enter Belcanto on my tau and not have to worry at all about looking at a screen during a performance. Has anyone attempted anything like this?

Ableton Link SDK open sourced.

Ableton Link SDK open sourced. Ableton have released the SDK for the desktop (as well as iOS) under GPL... so that means we could integrate it into an EigenD agent... Im thinking possibly as a metronome replacement. not only useful for synchronisation with Ableton but also lots of iOS apps, and also Reason 9.1/Max... (and whoever else chooses to support, lets hope for wider desktop adoption!)

I'm unfamiliar with T3D/OSC and haven't been able to figure out how to set it up. I have Mark Harris' T3D agent in my setup and Kaivo hosted in MainStage. But how do I make them communicate?

Looking for some assistance with "MIDI Monitor" with a Tau.  I've been quite successful with other Workbench projects, but anything with MID Monitor has proven unsuccessful.  I'm using the release 2.1.2-community and followed the Mark Harris video https://youtu.be/ojt_Ot9soz8 .  In the video of the Workbench, I can see there is a connection from MidiMonitor -> output -> Light Output   cabled to  "Keygroup 1".   Since "Keygroup 1" is never expanded in the video, I cannot see where it connects.  When just wiring it up, from collapsed agents, that "light output" connection is not automatically made.  Any attempt to manually connect it renders the "no matching inputs and outputs" message. Any got any advice?

I have added a strummer to my setup and want to mute all courses by slapping the perc keys below the four strumming keys with the back of my strumming hand. The plan was to be able to play rhythmically the way I'm used to on a guitar. Since strummer breath can mute all courses,  I tried to connect the key pressure from my "slap mute"  perc keys to a ranger and then to strummer breath input. But that didn't do anything. If I connect key pressure -> strum breath it works if I touch the keys lightly. But when I send it through the ranger it doesn't. So I'm guessing I don't understand how ranger works. I would have thought  "minum 0, max 0.1" would have resulted in a signal truncated at 0.1 and therefore always below the mute threshold. Perhaps this isn't even a good plan? Is there a better way to achieve this?

Just a quick note to say that I've added belcanto and a config to Mark Harris's Creator repository that builds a simple hang drum setup (ie. just the pair of hang drums) as developed by Geert Bevin.  It should be easy to add this into your own setups!

MIDI Program Change …paradigm of having more sounds under finger tips. Long talker with the help of   #creator  from Mark Harris. Keygroup with 110 Keys, each sending program change seems ok! Tip for continuous surface users :)

Tip for continuous surface users :)  The setups we create for Eigenharps, tend to have scalers with small pitchbend ranges (typically 1.0) as its an offset for a key, it also usually set to be not linear, to give a 'centre' This is not what you want for a continuous surface like a soundplane or continuum, you want a big range, and also linear bending. BUT you also want to use the same rigs as your harp!? EASY, connect the roll output to strip connection (which is connected to global pitchbend in scaler) ,  then you can set the global range to 48 (or whatever) This input is always linear, so you don't need to change that,  and its also per key...  (its only global, in the sense that strips not keys...  but the scaler etc doesnt care) I just now need to see, what happens on the AU/midi converters, which will also need there PB ranges set....

Does anyone know if there's a way to program a key for momentary action (only active while pressed)?

Does anyone know if there's a way to program a key for momentary action (only active while pressed)?  In particular I'm interested in setting one or more up to set the octave realtime (and retrigger or adjust any active notes) when pressed, then revert when released. Thanks, sb

Question: All my previous setups have been loosely based on one of the factory alpha/tau setups.

Question:  All my previous setups have been loosely based on one of the factory alpha/tau setups.   One thing I've noticed with them is that they prevent OSX's screensaver from kicking in.   I kinda thought this was something in EigenD that was causing it, but now that i've been creating my own little setups, i notice that the screensaver is no longer suppressed.    Does anyone (Geert Bevin Mark Harris maybe?) know offhand where this setting exists in the setup?

Soundplane agent updated (0.0.5)

Soundplane agent updated (0.0.5) ============================ this release is a result of a few things Ive learnt over recent days about the soundplane/aalto etc, making (kaivo/aalto) patches built for the soundplane more useable on the eigenharp (and vice versa) changes: - X/Y are now unipolar, and reversed - Pitchbend on agent is removed, it can be specified on the scaler agent. note: this will probably be replaced by a new (but compatible) agent, called T3D (name of the osc protocol used), features to be finalised but a few original features and improved throughput, are on my current wish list :) http://myeigenharp.wordpress.com/technobear-eigend-agents/
