Does anyone with knowledge of the EigenD codebase have a feeling for how much effort it would be to take the Cello model and wrap it up as a VST/AU - I'd like to play it with my Linnstrument :)

My attempts to repackage the MacOS Resources so that they will install in /usr/local have come to naught :( If I turn off System Integrity Protection, install, move it all from /usr/pi to /usr/local/pi and then turn SIP back on, will that work? I'm loathe to leave SIP turned off.... Thanks!

EigenD - Mac or Windows?

EigenD - Mac or Windows? I now have EigenD running on my Windows 10 laptop and my Macbook Pro (running MacOS 10.12.1 Sierra). Neither were a trivial install, but you can read about that elsewhere :) Windows 10: https://plus.google.com/+MartinThompson/posts/EXoVBVsEuMj Mac: https://plus.google.com/+MartinThompson/posts/ZRSeUQ8rnDu Having played around with the Windows side for a day, I have come to the conclusion that I can't make use of it :( Neither the built in audio of the laptop or an external audio interface (Lexicon Alpha) can produce audio glitch-free at latencies of less than 1024 samples (although 512 samples is only very occasionally glitchy...) That latency is unworkable (for me at least) - maybe I should just work at it? This is despite the processor in that machine being a fairly high-end i7. I had to reduce the gain of most of the instruments (using stage) as the samplers had all been set to maximum (I'm pretty sure that was not the case last time I used thi...

Installing EigenD on Windows 10.

Installing EigenD on Windows 10... I installed the driver, runtime and resources (I have unzipped and then installed the resulting installer). When I install EigenD-gpl-2.1.5-community, I get a dialog asking me to "Please install the EigenD Support package before installing EigenD"... An Eigenlabs folder has appeared in c:/program files(x86) with alchemy, driver, impulseresponse and so on within it - Mark Harris: is that the right location please?

So, I set to downloading all the latest and greatest from the Eigenlabs website - how come the support kit is now 3GB of download (compared to the 380MB that was on the DVD that came with my Pico in the first place)... what have I been missing all these years??! I'll install on my Win10 laptop and my Sierra MBP and report back...

I'm planning to pick up my Pico again after a looong absence.

I'm planning to pick up my Pico again after a looong absence... I have a choice of 2 computers to install the software onto - one is a Dell i7 laptop running Windows 10 and the other a 2014 i5 Macbook Pro Retina running El Capitan (but I may upgrade to Sierra soon...). Both have SSDs and plenty of RAM, so the choice is mainly about which OS I am likely to have better luck with! (For example, I will be installing from scratch - does this present any problems in Mac land now that the OS is much pickier about things going into /usr ?) Any thoughts would be welcome! Thanks in advance!

#Creator query.

#Creator query... I'm wondering - is it possible to completely rebuild the factory setup from Creator yet, or are there some items missing? Thanks!

Using different gains for the key directions.

Late May #eigenchallenge2014 entry. A rendition of "We have all the time in the world" on the Pico.

Late May #eigenchallenge2014  entry.  A rendition of "We have all the time in the world" on the Pico.   Somewhat imperfect (!) musically, but possibly of interest technically:  there are a lot of accidentals in the second half, and the Pico doesn't have enough keys to play this in chromatic mode. So, I've used the both the 'roll' and 'yaw' of the keys to send pitch-bend messages, but with different gains.  This means I can pull/push the key all the way to one side to get a full semitone of pitch-bend for the accidentals, but still 'wobble' it in the more natural direction for vibrato.  As you can hear, the technique still needs some practise, but it shows promise I think!  (The instrument is Sample Modelling's Tenor sax again) https://soundcloud.com/mijiti/we-have-all-the-time-in-the-world

Unsure whether to post this or not, but I've decided to throw caution to the wind!

Unsure whether to post this or not, but I've decided to throw caution to the wind!  Last minute entry for February's #eigenchallenge2014   My first attempt at improvisation, with a backing track I found lying around.  It goes a bit scrappy in the middle, and the ending is a bit "hacked" as the backing track had another 10 minutes to run, and I've run out of time for clever editing! Played on Eigenharp Pico with Sample Modelling's Tenor Sax.  Backing track credit is unavailable, I'm afraid, sorry! (PS. I created  an EigenChallenge2014 tag on Soundcloud if others want to add it to their uploads :) https://soundcloud.com/mijiti/sax-improv-ec-2014-feb

A simple offering from a novice for #EigenChallenge2014 :)

A simple offering from a novice for #EigenChallenge2014 :) Andante in C by Carulli from my son's classical guitar book.  Played on a Pico (so slightly tweaked to avoid using the octave keys).  Who wants to play "guess the VST"? https://soundcloud.com/mijiti/andante-in-c https://soundcloud.com/mijiti/andante-in-c

Question.

Question... how does EigenD transfer the 'polarity' (ie blowing or sucking) of the breath input to VST/AU instruments?  Or are soft-synths 'blow-only'? I've got used to blowing and sucking the cello, and it saves stopping for breath every so often :)

Got Sample Modeling's new SWAMEngine saxes for my birthday.

Got Sample Modeling's new SWAMEngine saxes for my birthday.  They feel really natural and playable using my Pico, with one slight niggle... the note carries on after you've stopped blowing if the key is held down, which means you can't control the note all the way to zero, and you have to remember to release the keys to get silence, which is very non-wind-controller-ish (maybe it's natural to keyboard players?).  Does anyone else use this software and have the same problem?  Or even better has fixed it?  Am I missing some detail of the config? Thanks!

I'd like to set up my Pico so that the cello can be bowed by the bottom right scroll-key - ideally with the bow pressure mapped to the pressure on that key instead of the pressure on the note that's being fingered (I don't quite understand how that's supposed to work, how do you do a proper legato when the bow "lifts off" between notes?).  I could also then map the strip to pitch bend to do proper cello-y slides :) Is this task a small amount of belcanto to figure out or am I better off waiting until I can afford Workbench? Thanks!

I've been looking for a bass VST to use with EigenD (on MacOS) and happened across 4-front bass: http://www.yohng.com/software/bass.html However, I can't get EigenD to recognise it.  I've dug into the .vst file and the binary claims to be universal (ppc, 64-bit and i386), so I feel it ought to work...  has anyone else tried and succeeded (or tried and failed so I know to stop :) ? http://www.yohng.com/software/bass.html
