EigenD not just for Eigenharps...

EigenD not just for Eigenharps... a demo of my latest agent 't3d device', which allows control of eigenD from a madrona labs soundplane. here it is controlling the Alpha 2 Factory setup, all that was required was adding 2 agents: - t3d device agent - an additional keygroup (to perform mapping)  in 'reality' Ive my own custom setup which exploits the soundplane more (examples in next video), but this is to show just how compatible you can make other devices :o)  #eigenD   #Soundplane   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T6kr-Gf-mQ

A sneak peek of something Im working on

A sneak peek of something Im working on http://youtu.be/kYSYonoSBqU I like using the Eigenharp as a performance controlling surface, but some things are a bit fiddly (small buttons, not so great feedback) I tried an iPad (with Lemur/TouchOSC etc) but too small. I don't want to use a laptop/computer. So decided on an Ableton Push... not only does it have a grid with good size buttons, and lots of extra buttons, slider... but also endless encoders and most importantly a LCD matrix display so you can see whats happening. Ive been super impressed with it in Live, and how it improves your workflow, using live without looking at the computer :) So decided... I want it for EigenD too :) Stage one... modify my midi device agent to support sending light 'midi messages', hook it up my eigenharp setup, using it for arranger and also a playing surface.  (this also allows me to check menus etc work) - the video shows the essential stage in action. Stage two... (If i decide to do it, rat...

new agent - midi device

new agent  - midi device checkout the video -  http://youtu.be/1VdkDzZaxvw highlights:  - supports multi channel midi  - all signals, key, pressure, roll, yaw, strip 1+2, breath, pedal 1-4  - 14 bit midi support  - notes over CC (for fun)  its alot of fun as you can see in the video :)  its all working, but I'm still polishing and finalising a few things, its pretty flexible so i need to tidy things up so others can make sense of it.  #Eigenharp    #Midi    #AlternativeControllers   #EigenD   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VdkDzZaxvw

Ive prepared a couple of videos, showing how EigenD can be used as a VST instrument host for any midi controller, and also in particular with interfacing with Reason 7. Aimed at newcomers to EigenD and workbench, it shows creating an entire setup from scratch, including building a small stage interface. Part 1 - http://youtu.be/5ef2ukK46Kc  (Midi input, Audio, Audio Unit, CC routing, Stage) Part 2-   http://youtu.be/m1lBt3AYUtc  (alternative routing, VSTs as FX, Midi clock sync)  #EigenD   #Reason   http://youtu.be/5ef2ukK46Kc

Soundplane agent tips.

Soundplane agent tips. Ive been playing with the agent and Kaivo over the weekend, so I thought Id pass on some tips. a) Don't host in EigenD. Initially I was hosting in EigenD, and was fine for smaller setups and less cpu intensive patches, but as things get hotter, I started to get lots of clicks and pops. I think the issue is EigenD has one 'fast' thread, and Kaivo is single threaded on that thread... I found it much better to host Kaivo in a DAW, so its in a different process space, and EigenD and Kaivo can get the cpu they require (different threads, different cores). (note: this is true generally for Kaivo/Aalto, not specific to soundplane agent)  b) Using Midi Rig so if you choose (a), then just create soundplane agent in a rig, connect to scaler, and disconnect pressure/frequency from midi converter.... I think you can send midi still (e.g. CCs) which can then be mapped in the DAW to plug params in the normal way. c) Using audio unit agent  as i said id recommend ag...

Velocities from EigenD

Velocities from EigenD  has anyone played with the num samples,curve,scale? (midi/vst) Ive been looking at how they are calculated (quite interesting), and also been doing some experiments with Max, to see how my playing is. Although it sounds even, the midi values are quite varied.... Ive been thinking about the algo and the default sample (4) is pretty low considering we get 2000/sec. this probably explains the multipliers and scale being so high, as the velocity is really done off of only the first few pressure samples. thoughts? anyone fine tuned? btw, for record...  my belief is you play by feel and what you hear, so in someways as long as its constant it doesn't matter. so my aim here is seeing if I can get more consistent results. #velocity   #eigend
