Not original, but thought Id start a blog on how Im learning to play the Pico, and other exploration of eigenD etc - a kind of diary. Id be interested in any comments people have about my approach, or suggestions on improving techniques etc. http://myeigenharp.wordpress.com

António Machado just made me watch this video from the Eigenharp DevCon again after posting a picture of the score from one of the pieces we played. Amazing memories! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw7OJDy_q9o

As a first step for an EigenD VST bridge I am investigating an "OSC portal" agent atm that converts all kinds of EigenD events (including key and audio) to OSC and back. Am still at the beginning of diving into the deeper realms of OSC. OSC seems to be a very general protocol that offers a lot of freedom how to do things (which ports are supported, what is the "protocol" spoken over them etc.) So: Does anybody know whether "pseudo standard" ways how to encode key, modulation and audio events in OSC were established between OSC capable software already - optimally ones that are capable enough to map the EigenD event system to them? (E.g. I found a "MIDI Bridge" that converts MIDI to OSC and vice versa - probably an interesting "OSC profile" to support - but presumably not capable enough for all EigenD events - e.g. for sending events between EigenD instances on the same or different machines. Perhaps already sufficient for the MIDI side ...

This is partly in response to Ferdinand Strixner 's post.

This is partly in response to Ferdinand Strixner 's post. The obvious opportunity for EigenD going forward is to increase the user base. It is an excellent music performance environment (coined, by me, a MPE - grin) One thing that would help this along it to provide agents for instruments / controllers that are more widely held. For example, I'd value an agent allowing wind instruments. The WX series are just MIDI based but the AKAI EWIUSB has drivers and might be quite promising for use with the native models. An agent for a USB-compliant controller would bring MPE capability to a very large audience

So, after you had got comfortable with your harp, what did you do next?

So, after you had got comfortable with your harp, what did you do next? With a pico, seems tricky, as finding music suitable is a bit difficuly, so doing some jamming with loops etc... but not sure this will develop skills too much. Also, sounds Id like a nice (80's) synth sound resident on the mac, something like ims/polysix which ive got on the ipad - (though prefer not to connect) any recommendation on free/cheap vst/au? ive got u-he which is quite good, though not found many nice presets. Any nice presets for crystal/alchemy, there are a few nice sounds. thanks for any pointers Mark

Hi

Hi, Got my Pico a few weeks back, and been getting used to it, thanks to Geerts excellent videos on youtube. They have been excellent, and I feel pretty comfortable on it now, after a short period of time. Im a software engineer by profession, and have played a bit of piano in the past, but this is something very different, and im enjoying the mix if tech and music - though ironically my preference is for classical music :)

Found this video on YouTube, recorded two weeks ago, really enjoyed the ambient feel it has.

A little agent as a Christmas/New Year gift for you all

A little agent as a Christmas/New Year gift for you all I received my blink(1) USB lights a few days ago and last night while waiting for our guests to arrive, I quickly coded an EigenD agent for them. You can connect up to 16 blink(1) lights and control them all through EigenD and your Eigenharp. This can for instance be connected to the metronome, or scheduled with talkers on the arranger or even connect your keys’ expression directly to the colors. You can get the agent from the EigenZone wiki: http://wiki.eigenzone.org/wiki/Blink http://www.eigenzone.org/2013/01/01/blink1-usb-light-agent-for-eigend
